International Workers Day 2019:
Rights and Justice for ALL Workers
On May Day, International Workers Day, we commemorate the struggle of predominantly immigrant workers in the U.S. and abroad to win an 8-hour work day in the late 1800's. Today it is marked by activities around the world to not only acknowledge that historic fight, but to recognize the struggle for justice and human rights for all. In 2006, May Day rallies and marches brought out millions of people around the country -- including a massive mobilization of undocumented immigrants -- in protest of anti-immigrant legislation. This May Day, as we continue to push back against all forms of discrimination and exploitation, we honor those who came before us and helped to pave the way for rights and justice for us all.
