(Sacramento, CA) A
group of young deportees are left somewhere south of the US/Mexican border with
Christmas just a few days away. As in the traditional Pastorela, where
shepherds are sent on a quest by a Christmas Angel, our modern day shepherds
meet an old, homeless woman who pleads with them to help her family in
Sacramento. There, a young undocumented couple, Maria and Jose, are about
to be deported. Maria is expecting their first born son, Jesus, who faces being
placed in Child Protective Services. Our young deportees are imbued with
Dreamer hopes and agree to go to Sacramento and save Maria, Jose, and Jesus.
Will our young heroes,
now advocates for immigration reform, save the young family from deportation?
Or will the wily Diablos, stop them with their many forms of temptation? Will
good win over evil? Come and find out on December 15th and join the fun!
Audience participation - booing and hissing the diablos and cheering the angels
- is highly encouraged!
The holiday treat
continues at the Crest Theater immediately after the performance with Calidanza
Dance Company in performance with a special Christmas Ballet Folklorico.
Presentation at 3pm. Doors open at 2PM.
